Oreo needs serious dental work. I’ve known it for a long time but there’s always been some other more pressing problem with her… anyway she’s got an appointment and they’ll likely take out most of her teeth.

Lucy had it done several years before she died and never missed her teeth at all. In fact she was pissed off at me the first day for not giving her her dry food. She never seemed to notice they were gone. The worst of the whole thing was me worrying while she was having the procedure and the bill, of course.

Years later someone on the internet said something about her crooked Pirate smile. Other than that we all lived happily ever after right away.

Hoping it goes like that for Oreo, but she’s generally both a lot more sensitive, a lot more melodramatic, and a lot less resilient than Lucy ever was, so who knows how she’ll take it. It may traumatize her for the rest of her life.

I’m hoping she’ll get over it as soon as her teeth don’t hurt her anymore. I was like that with my root canal. Scared to death of the procedure but as soon as I got my permanent crown I was able to forget about my teeth and live my life again.

It’s not for another week or so but I’m reading up on different people’s experiences. Seems like most kitties end up better for having it done like Lucy did.
