My Michael Jackson Story

I haven’t had a chance to look thru my old stuff to find the pics I know I took at my Michael Jackson party I threw back in… umm.. 2005 maybe it was… at the bar I worked at as a fundraiser for gay pride.

Not that MJ had anything to do with gay pride but I’d donated my “Annual All Madonna, Only Madonna” Birthday party’s proceeds that year to the cause as part of a 3-party deal, so Michael Jackson was the next logical choice.

Not only did he come with a fun catalog of dance music, but we had gloves, hats, monkeys, shiny jackets, aviator sunglasses and multitudes of other party favors to make it a special event.

The guy I was seeing at that moment saw fit to finish with me sometime just after we gave away the big prize basket. I spent the rest of the night sobbing in one place or another, pulling myself together and pretending nothing was wrong as long for as long as I could and then going back out and trying to act happy again.

Oh yeah we had baby dolls with scarves over their heads too.
It was a good party. Shame I didn’t get to fully enjoy it.

I used to go to the library instead of google.
I used to go home if I was expecting a phone call.
It wasn’t that long ago…

Yet somehow it’s become a hardship for me to use my camera
even my digital camera…

I wouldn’t think of actually getting film developed in this day and age
when its too much of a pain in my ass to remove the media card
and put it in the built in sd card slot in my computer
when I can just take pics w/my phone and send them right to my tumblr.

I used to carry small suitcases filled with cassette tapes
and giant boom boxes
the bigger the better!

Now I have a palm sized mp3 player with a much bigger music selection
and I complain because I have to sync it with the computer
to change the music or put podcasts on it

Woe is me, for I do not have immediate and automatic ways to do everything.
