I am sick of going out. But my monthly drinking club wanted to do it more often and I said to them, if someone else wants to organize something and invite me I’ll come… so I had to turn up. Also gave me a reason to wear my new tennis dress.

I made the mistake of studying Advertising in college only to be disappointed to find out that instead of getting to word out to people about interesting products and services, the whole game is essentially manipulation of people who can’t or won’t or don’t know enough to come to the truth and then make up their minds.

I became jaded and cynical and I haven’t been able to watch the news since.

I listened to TWiT regularly cause I’m a computer geek who enjoys a good podcast. I loved John C. Dvorak cause I’m generally negative about whatever new thing all the geeks go on and on about as well.

I knew he had this No Agenda podcast with Adam Curry but I thought it was all conspiracy theory. I expected it to be about Aliens and other fictional nonsense. I think I listened on a lark one day when I found out that it was about deconstructing the media coverage of the news to get to the truth.

Sure they have some opinions I don’t share. But why on earth would you watch only news you know you’ll agree with? I want facts. I’ll make up my own mind.

I trust these guys to give me more facts than I get anywhere else. And I like the jingles and conspiracy theory. Truth is that these particular conspiracy theories thrown into this show are, at worst, a cautionary tale. A sort of “worst possible outcome” to consider when you make up your mind about stuff.

I enjoy all the nicknames and in-jokes to keep it all entertaining. And the slide whistle too. I can see this show isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I like it.

I don’t care if you’re into it or not. I just wish more people would be more critical of the news they do watch and read and listen to.

This article from the NPR site which admits it takes money from corporations that are essentially ads, and that it interviews people from these corporations frequently…. and then attempts to rationalize how its not a conflict of interests when it clearly is.

This headline saying it’s = advertising is theirs. Not mine.

The only exercise I can really do is walk but its sweaty and humid even at night these days.

I learned years ago that exercise keeps my hormone levels where they should be better than any of the pills the GYN ever put me on. It regulates my mood, makes me a pleasant person, and makes that time of the month much more bearable.

So I went to the mall to walk today. The good thing is that its temperature controlled. If you’re like me and you love clothes and shoes, the scenery is even nice. People will just assume you’re on your way somewhere and you can walk for hours.

The challenge is to keep walking.

JC Penney is a hot bed of cute dresses right now. I came home with a tennis dress.

Mine’s the propaganda-fest that is our news. No one has a clue what’s going on and no one even knows it. We discuss politics and vote based upon opinions packaged for us by the TV station we are most entertained by. We feel as if we are better informed than the people around us and we pat ourselves on the back for making an informed decision unlike all the bozos who watch the other station who went to vote too feeling the same way.

Truth is we probably have learned more about crab fishing than politics from watching TV.

Save your money. NPR is totally biased as well because they are funded by the same big corporations you’re already upset by. This is why I listen to the No Agenda podcast. They check who’s funding “news” and they take the time to read ALL the pages of proposed legislation. NPR and PBS only give the illusion of being different from the for-profit stations.
